Q: Who makes your windows?
A: Ducana Windows & Doors Ltd. manufactures its own product lines. We do not buy and resell.
Q: Where are your windows made?
A: All of our windows are manufactured in our Tilbury, Ontario facility.
Q: Why do you need foam in the frames?
A: The foam in our window frames is there to slow down the rate of thermal transfer from inside to outside. Your refrigerator is filled with a similar material and for exactly the same reason.
Q: Why do you re-enforce your sashes with metal bars?
A: All of our operating sashes get a metal re-enforcing bar before being surrounded with foam. This helps to ensure all corner welds remain in place. It also allows us to secure any operating hardware to metal instead of just vinyl so your mechanisms will remain in place. It also allows us to build larger sashes than our competitors that do not use metal re-enforcement.
Q: Why do you use triple glass?
A: In an effort to reduce your heating and cooling costs we made a decision in 1996 to switch our standard glass pack to a tri-pane. Almost 25% of the energy spent heating and cooling a home is a direct result of loss through windows and doors. By almost doubling the insulating value over standard double glass packages, we can reduce the amount of heat loss/gain by almost 33%.
